Every Artisan Stucco lime mortar finish requires a reliable base layer.
The Artisan Stucco Base Layer is a rough, textured floated natural lime plaster designed to bridge the gap between stone or adhesive mortar and your finishing layer. It also helps straighten walls, ensuring a smooth and even finish.
This 100% mineral mortar is made by combining Artisan Stucco Lime Putty with regular masonry sand or grouting sand, depending on the desired thickness, substrate and location. Like all natural lime putty plasters, it supports healthy indoor air quality, resists mould growth, and allows moisture to evaporate, preventing trapped humidity.
By adjusting the aggregate, this base layer can be tailored to suit a variety of building systems. For example a lightweight plaster for a straw bales construction or a thinner layer on top of modern insulation systems.

2 x 25 Kg Masonry Sand 0-2 mm.

Base Layer Fine (BL2), for every 5-6 m2 of 5-7 mm.
1 x 20 Kg Artisan Stucco Lime Putty
2 x 25 Kg Grouting Sand 0-1 mm.
Outdoor plasters on natural stone or bricks
Base Layer Rough (BL1), for every 4-5 m2 of 10-12 mm.

2.5 x 25 Kg Masonry Sand 0-2 mm.
